Hey man...that IS the original motor.
If you aren't burning any oil at 200,000 you are doing pretty good....just change it regularly and it will run forever if you are lucky. HP is 92 at 6000, and torque is 89 lb/ft at 4500. What other kind of issues are you concerned about ?

Hey, Cledus-Welcome!
I've got that same engine in my 1990 LX. It's a four-door, but it's the fancy one with A/C, power windows, power mirrors, etc. Same motor, though. When it comes to motor mods, you can do a lot and still not get any big results. The cold air intake helps a little. I got a 4-2-1 ceramic header, and that didn't make much difference. The most noticeable difference will come from doing the MPFI swap. Your current fuel injection only has two injectors. That's DPFI. MPFI is an intake manifold with 4 injectors and a larger throttle body. There are plenty of threads about the MPFI swap. You won't notice a big difference from any one mod (except the MPFI). Most of the guys here will tell you you won't get a big difference until you change all the parts that deal with getting air into and out of your engine. So, here's what I recommend, in order: MPFI, Cold air intake, header, hi-flow catalytic converter, performance muffler. At the same time, I recommend a front strut tower bar, even a cheapie off of ebay will dramatically change the way the car handles. It's a lot easier to get dramatic changes in the handling than it is with engine mods. If you want to be serious, you gotta go for a different engine, and if there's nothing wrong with your current one, you should stick with it and enjoy being able to afford putting gas in your tank. pretty much everything 4 door flunky said should get you good to go
oh yea, and im gonna cut and reweld the bottom piece of my chikira header to make it shorter ... I dont wanna known as the dumbass who bought the thing for no reason and gives up after one minor obstacle. ![]() But definitley put MPFI high up on your priority list, I wish I woulda known that before I dumped major money into the stereo and the civic vx rims ... better to make it go decently fast first.
