in about 2 or 3 weeks i'm finally buying all the new parts my '92 240sx coupe needs. my first question is, is 4x100 the correct bolt pattern for the wheels on my car? and my second question is, what size tires should i be running front and rear? i'll be mostly autcrossing this car, and i'm planning on getting buddy club p1's (if they fit). they are going to be 16s, but should i get 16x7 or 16x7.5. i'd appreciate if you guys could help out cuz my money is burning a hole in my pocket when it comes to this car.

16x7 is good enough up to 225 tire size. get 7.5's if you'lll be running 235s. 8's will fit 245. i believe you can fit up to 225's on the front, and 245's on the rear, with a +42 offset or lower, and they will still clear a 2" drop. im running 215 on the front and 225 on the back, but i know 225/235 will fit for sure. get some nice grippy onces, i dont know anything about autocrossing so maybe someone else will pick that up.

Be careful when buying rims, inexpensive rims are cheap for a reason. They tend to be heavy and difficult to balance. If you think buying rims will be hard, consider going 5-lug/z-brakes.. the entire "suspension/braking" upgrade is quite time consuming and costly... but absolutely worth it.
For S13, 16's are great.. for S14's, I think 17's are better. On my S13, I am running 16x8 with 245/45 series tires all around -- afaik, that is the widest TIRE setup for 16" rims using street tires. I beleive the max width is a 9" rim.. clearances are VERY tight and fender rolling may be needed. With 8" wide rims, I didnt need to touch the fenders.. the wheels fit SNUG. Of course, this all depends as to what suspension you run.. coilovers will change things.. so be sure to measure or test fit before you buy. Japanese rims appear to be the best quality and fitment, I would look into getting rims from Jspec.com or any other wheel importer. Whatever you do, be sure to research before you buy.. because buying the wrong offset rim is just stupid. You'll end up with a car that looks rediculous and cheap. ps: Inexpensive rims tend to be either extreme: too heavy OR too light and fragile. S13's are VERY particular with rims, if you use a cheap rim that is hard to balance.. you WILL have shimmy at higher speeds. I've had less expensive rims, its not a good experience. You'll be amazed as to how different the car will perform with GOOD quality parts. - Mike |

About the buddy club p1's I would get Kosei K1's. I have them on my car, they are pretty lightweight. I dont really know much about the buddy club p1's but from the pics ive seen they look sort of like Kosei's. I know at tire rack they are discontinuing them, so I dont know if they have any more, but they should be really cheap if they do. |

actually, i didn't pick the p1's cuz there "jdm yo", i figured the koseis might be cheaper for a reason. its surprising how many "perfect people" there are around here. and i plan on running falken azinaz for autocross. the origional wheels i wanted wew whats on my civic, my rota slipstreams, but i guess that bolt pattern wont work. if anyone can suggest a nice, light weight wheel i'd appreciate it. i liked to konig heliums aswell. i really think that its funny that if i pick jdm parts for my car i'm a poser. i was comverting yen to $$ back in 97 to get jdm parts for my fc rx7 and i bought a 240sx for what it is not cuz i wanna be paul walker or some dumb sh*t.

ok i did a little research... Buddy club is a company that just makes copies of other wheels, so the koseis are actually a better wheel. They are lighter too. I've had my koseis for a year and havent had one problem with them. I get a ton of compliments on them also. They arnt cheaper than the buddy club's, they are discontinued so thats why they are cheaper.
I didnt buy really expensive wheels because I wanted to spend my money elsewhere like my $1000 exhaust or my $1000 clutch. Anyway I bought the Kosei's because I thought they looked good and were very light. If you want to spend money on your wheels buy TE-37's. Then people will envy you... |

dayna240sx, whats a good place to get the koseis at since they've been discontinued? TE37 would be great but i do have alot of things to do to this car, ideally my favorite wheel is the advan rg but 450 per wheel is kinda steep. any good quality, light weight knock offs of the rg's around that you guys know of.

I looked at tirerack which i think is the only place that has them, I dont think they carry them anymore.
If you want to spend around $200-250 a wheel get gram lights. They are Rays so you still have the Volk name but they are cheaper than TE37's and they are still light~ 17 lbs. for 17" so 16" will be lighter obviously. http://www.wholehyper.com/wheels-new.html Find out the price for them at this site, then go to http://www.forperformance.com/glights.html They say they will beat any price and have free shipping What color is your 240? Alot of people put black wheels on black cars, I wanted to do this but I got talked out of it, I'm glad I did because I've seen cars with all black, and I dont really like it. |
