My 2002 Alero has been a great car up to now it has high miles on it I had the plugs changed out today reason being that the service engine soon light came on and code was reading Number 5 misfiring. the car runs great while you are driving but when you are stopped it idles down to the point it just shuts off so the light was on again and stopped and this time it is reading multiple misfiring. I guess my way of thinking is would it run great while driving it and if it was multiple misfiring it would lose horsepower drive like crap but it does not only when the car is stopped does it shut off

It would help to post which engine you have. I am assuming you have the 3400 V6? And your current mileage.

What brand plugs did you use and did you replace the ignition wires?

Sorry yes it is the 3400 V6 we are going to replace the NGK plugs that was put in it with the ACDelco the car has 151,000 miles on it has had maintenance done it with the oil changed every 3000 miles went in in March for system flush replaced all the hoses and filters at that time meaning fuel filter air filter I love my car has not given me any problems until now and I am confused as to what it could be it was fine when I turned it off the have the new plugs put in then first time starting it it went dead in like 30seconds I have not driven my car since this happen I do not want to cause damage to my engine but I can not help but think it is the plugs so today we are going to change them out and hope that is what it is yes the wires and the plugs were changed out even though I was told the wires were good was not going to take the chance with my car I drive 45mins one way to work again runs fine going down the road but sitting still drops the RPM and stalls on sunday 7/11/10 replace the plugs went back to the ACDELCO no more misfiring code but has a new one SYSTEM TO RICH code now can someone please help I am not sure who to take it to with out getting taken to the cleaners around here
