Question Honda Civic Street Edition???

*WARNING: this post turned out longer than I meant it to be...sorry!*

Hey all, I'm new to these boards. Surfing around on the net to find info on Civics.

I'm in Calgary and just purchased a 2003 Honda Civic Couple LX, and it's a new special edition that Honda has brought out called the "Street Edition". I've been trying to find *any* information about these on the web (I'm an info junkie ) but found nothing.

Anyways, my parents and my boyfriends parents are HUGE on Honda's, they both have early 90 Accord's and 2001 CRV's, as is my boss at work, and numerous co-workers, and I know how reliable Honda's are.

Unfortunately, this car is coming as a step down from what I'm currently driving. I bought myself a 2002 VW Golf GTi 1.8T last summer, and now, 8 months later I'm forced to give it up because I am incredibly car poor, can't make the $600 car payments and still enjoy life (well, life when not driving). I'm 21, looking to move out soon, and as much as I love my little hatchback I need something cheaper.

SOOOOO...in comes the *cue the music* Honda Civic...STREET EDITION.

heh

I have mixed feelings about the car, I don't want to appear like I'm a try hard street racer, I'm not even into modding at all. I wanted to do up my GTi, but this Civic is more to get me through the next few years until I'm in a better position to drive something a lot more...luxurious... I was planning on a Sedan LX, but after being in the dealership and working out some numbers it just seemed like a much better deal for the street. $400 more than the sedan, for all the same options plus special 15" alloys, window tint, chrome exhaust (just for looks), special "street edition" badging and Sony Explod cd/mp3 deck and speakers. How could I turn all that down for $400 more! The deck alone at Future shop is that much. I've looked at older models of Honda, and Special Editions always sell for more than regular, so I'm kind of looking at that factor as well.

ANYWAYS, I'm babbling...just wanted to get some feedback on this car, since I've been unlucky to not find ABSOLUTELY anything else on the internet about it.

Thanks for reading (if you got this far in my novel, hehe sorry)

ps-here is the only link I could find in a google search, it's the newspaper ad that they are running:

Sound like an LX with oem and aftermarket options. The specifications should and probably are exactly the same. Welcome to AF and good luck.

Kinda sounds, and the add looks like, they just gave it an extra wack with the pretty stick.

What exactly are you looking for? You seem to have answered your own questions in the "novel" Do you wanna know what kind of engine it is? Where to find parts/mods? Interior/Exterior stuff? Whatcha needin?

I'd say check out the FAQ, and reference your car as a 2003 LX civic, and if the info regards the wheels, stereo, chrome exhaust tip, or any of the other stuff, just know that you have those options on there already. Otherwise, B16EJ1 is right, probably just OE with some stuff.

and....
Welcome to AF!

Street Edition implies the other hondas are strictly for offroad usage? Thought so. Just kidding.
Uh, welcome to AF!

It's a manual. And yeah, I know all about the engine and stuff already. All the dealership does to it is take an LX off of their lot, and add the "Street Kit" which is what all the extra's are. I just wanted to know if this is selling anywhere else, since the only information I could find on it was the ad from Burnaby BC. Eh, maybe it's to early for there to be any information on it.

Anyways, thanks for the replies. I look forward to picking it up, Saturday is the big day!

Happy motoring all

Did you ever think to buy a used car, save lots of money, and live like most do, with a not so good car.

Yeah, I've been that route, my first car was a 1990 Plymouth Laser. After it left me stranded on the highway at 8am on New Years Day I got it fixed for real cheap and sold it. Then I was driving my parent's 1991 Honda Accord, that they sold to me for cheap, and I was alright with it, but come on. I'm 21, I have a great job making awesome money and I wanted a new car that was all mine.

Of course I should have bought something cheaper, I should have stuck with my old Honda. But hey, everyone wants to indulge a little.

No, correction. Re-read my post. Did I ever say anywhere I was POOR?? NO!

I said I don't want to be making $600 car payments anymore. I didn't say I can't make them, I do, every month. I just want some extra money to be able to move out and start my own life.

Would a POOR person qualify for a car loan for $34000?

Yo you're being an idiot. If all it takes to make a car "riced out" is chrome on the exhaust, how about all those sweet window banners and the beautiful single-wiper job in your "car club"? She asked for information on the car, not whether you would buy it and how much you liked Sony head units. Maybe we should send her a couple banners and some altezza knock-offs so she could be in your "club".

well to try to answer eh-kitty's question. No, I have never heard of this package, and havent seen any thing like it hear. Perhaps it is just a dealership thing. Could be a canadian thing though too, I know sometimes the Hondas are a bit different in Canada. Mine, a VX, is from canada, and around here no one has ever seen a civic like it, mainly the wheels, no side view mirror on the PS, the v-tec-E motor. so who knows.

but as far as my experience goes, I've never heard of a civic street edition.
