98 Civic brakes shaking badly
I have 98 Civic with about 180,000 miles on it. When I put on the brakes to stop they shudder and it feels like they are grabbing and releasing and the whole car shakes. There is not problem stopping, its just an annoying thing. I got new tires and balanced them and it helped a little, but its still does it pretty bad. I have heard from other people that have the same problems that the rotors just need to be turned. Any suggestions?

Re: 98 Civic brakes shaking badly
My money would be on rotors, assuming you also have a tight front suspension. Things such as a bad wheel bearing or severely bad ball joint can mimic this symptom. Rotors are most likely warped, but for the price of having them turned, you may just want to replace them. Also be sure the calipers are in good condition, if they are hanging up/ sticking, you will warp the rotors again pretty quick.
Good luck! |

Re: 98 Civic brakes shaking badly
yup u need rotors u got it. I wouldn't recommend cuttin them especially if they were warped. cuz then they have to cut a big chunk of metal up to .050 inch or more
