Lost one, gained another!

Hi all,

Been incognito recently, but wanted to share our experience. My wife was involved in a wreck recently with our 03 base model. She managed to stop in time in a series of cars that stopped short on a busy road, but the lady behind her in an Explorer wasn't paying attention. You guessed it- accordion-ed front and back. She and my daughter are fine, but the van is totalled. I am glad that I did all that work. especially on the brakes- that split-second where it all could have gone much worse made it worth it. Anyhoo, we have a friend who happened to be getting rid of their 2000 SE with a similar amount of miles on it (131k compared to our 133.8) for the amount we got from insurance. God is good! Our friends were the original owners and have had it dealer maintained from the beginning. All the recalls and TSBs (brake switch, iso bolt fix, etc.) are all done. New OEM Michelins, physical condition outstanding. Worked out very well for us. Now I have to research the problems on the 2000! Thanks in advance...

Absolutely!! Like I said, God is good. Call me a sucker for buying another Windstar, and with a lot of miles, but I need a big van still with taking care of my in-laws, and I know the ins and outs of the thing. Plus I have y'all to bother when things go wrong!

The windstar is a good vehicle for the money.
I would feel more confident in a Windstar than a Chrysler product.......and the Sienna (which I now have) and Honda are expensive.
As you know what to look for in terms of issues.....and what you can do to prevent them in terms of preventative maintenance, another Windstar, that is in good condition, is a great move.

EXACTLY my thinking on the matter. Toyota and Honda products are overpriced and I don't want a Chrysler for a number of reasons. The Windstar is a known quantity. I know the poison I've chosen.
