E30 0-60 time

I really need to time my car one of these days, but can anyone take a guess at my 0-60 time? I'm thinking it's pretty close to 7.5 sec.

Thanks snowboarder, but I like Cels stats better Also, 1992 was the first year of the E36, except the convertible which was still an E30 style. So I think that 7.8 sec stat might be an E36er, same engine but heavier car, causing a slower time. When doing stats and buying parts, I always say I have a 91.

And I agree on your sig. Watching 50 guys try to remember to turn left is not my idea of a good time.

the funny thing is that when the E30 325i was coming to the united states, BMW NA rated it at 8 point something seconds, but back then they always did that, that is rate them with a higher time. . .

cellsdogg, you ever heard of the E30 being hampered by the 2-3 shift just before 60? I read somewhere that the E30 is actually really fast to 50mph, but the 0-60 time doesn't reflect that because we have to shift to 3rd just before 60mph (56mph if I remember right). Most cars can hold 2nd gear through 60, but it adds like 0.5 seconds when you have to make the shift.

hm, i have never heard about that, is that with the manual or an auto? just to let you know, i have an auto. . .

maybe that is why in the e30 manual it had a 0-50 time, which i thought was weird. that time was 6s for an auto. . .

i can say for sure it is fast through 50. . .sometimes i make the mistake in watchin the speedometer needle rise, instead of the road, and it goes up pretty fast i would say. one day i will leave my auto in 2, and see if i can make it to 60, i know i can make it to 80 in 3rd tho. . . but again, since it is an automatic, the gear ratios are different so ill let you know what i find. . .

I found this site and it gave a lot of detail about the speeds and gearing for the E30. I think it only has transmission data on the Getrag manual though. Still good for other specs.

Re: E30 0-60 time

Alright so I just looked in the original manual that came with my car, and a 1991 325i/325is will go 0-50 mph in approx 5.9 sec with a manual, and 7.2 sec with an automatic. I always wondered why they said 0-50 mph and not sixty, but yeah i guess thats right it will only do 56mph i seccond gear so having a 0-60 time for this car wouldnt be a really accurate assumption of the power.
