Unhappy Loud noise in motor and car won't start

I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am V6 3.4 motor. I had a leak somewhere which lead to water in the oil. I flushed motor and replaced all of the gaskets. Once everything was back together the car ran ok but it had alot of valve chatter. On my way home one day the car stalled in the middle of the road and I had to have it towed home. I hooked the car up to my auto scanner and it gives me no codes. The car will not start and when you try to turn it over it has a terrible noise in the motor like you threw a bunch of tools in there. Any ideas what is going on with my car.

did the pushrods go back into the correct spots; there are 2 different lengh rods. If you mix them up rocker arms and pushrods will bend.

When you say "replaced all the gaskets" which gaskets are you talking about exactly. Assuming head gasket was one of them did you verify timing with a timing light after buttoning it all up? I know this sounds stupid but did you put oil back in the engine and replace the filter?

I have a simple question if the car is not starting how can you use a timing light on a car that is not running.

It sounds like you may have spun a connecting rod bearings in the lower half of the engine?

If you had coolant in the oil and ran it long enough for it to mix, then the bearings should have been replaced. Antifreeze will damage the bearings. There is most likely a spun rod bearing.

Re: Loud noise in motor and car won't start

We have taken off the oil pan and have noticed a crack in the crank shaft between 2nd and 3rd piston, we need to replace crank shaft is there any way to remove the motor without removing the transmition?

I think that the engine and the trans has to be taken out in order to replace the crankshaft. I have never had to pull the engine, so maybe some one that has may give you a differnt answer?
