2000 Passat 1.8T camshaft actuator
A friend's 2000 passat threw a code, that the dealership attributed to a malfunctioning camshaft actuator. The car has about 150k on it, and he doesn't want to pay their price for putting in a new one. We've had the valve cover off before and from the info i've seen, it looks like that's the hardest part of the swap. Anyway, we're planning on doing it ourselves, so I thought i'd try to find an alternative place to buy the new one, but I've had absolutely no luck. Anyone know where I can get one?

Re: 2000 Passat 1.8T camshaft actuator
Hey Franco, thanks, but I'm looking for the camshaft actuator, not the c.p.s. I've seen a few threads eluding to it, but no part numbers or anything else. It's a mechanical part, driven by oil pressure that advances or retards the cam timing by loosing or tightening the camshaft chains.

Follow up:
Found one on ebay. They don't call it the camshaft position actuator, just the cam timing chain adjuster. Item number 140363082059 if anyone wants to take a look. Thanks. |
