Model of DATSUN 280Z

My husband is turning 40 in a few weeks and I am desperately looking for an unbuilt, still in the box, model kit of a Datsun 280z.

If anyone has one they would like to sell to help make a 40th birthday a bit more special and help my hubby feel like boy at heart, PLEASE contact me asap!

Thanks,
Rebecca

Re: Model of DATSUN 280Z

Ebay currently has a 280z selling for less than $15.

It is a very nice, well detailed kit.

Hope this helps.

It would help only if they are looking for a 280ZX; which is not a 280Z. Completely different car, the second generation Z car. The 280Z was still based on the first generation car.

Monogram made a very simple curbside 280Z, stock, rally, or race version. The only unbuilt ones on Ebay are the rally version. It's not a great kit, but I think it's the only 280Z out there.

Ugh. That is the wrong car too! (the model is mis-labeled). Perhaps the car that was called the 280ZX in the US was not called the ZX in Japan. That kit is what is known as a 280ZX, not a 280Z. And it's a pretty lame kit (if one wants a 280ZX, the AMT kit is the way to go, though Tamiya did a nice curbside ZX).

This is a 280ZX (second generation Z)

This is a 280Z (first generation Z)

Re: Model of DATSUN 280Z

As far as I am know, there is a Monogram packaged kit of the road 280z that occasionally pops up on ebay.

Airfix also has a 280z but i'm not 100% on the scale or even if it really a 280Z as I've never seen it in person, only on listings.

I know. People just don't know the difference between the Z and ZX, do they? But Arii's box isn't wrong for it's the JDM version. "Fairlady Z" is the vehicle name, and "280Z" is a grade designation in Japan.

As for the non-Japanese 280Z, the Monogram kit occasionally pops up on eBay, like this one.http://cgi.ebay.com/Monogram-Datsun-...item563c0c8614

But in the worst case scenario, Revell's 240Z kit should suffice for it being the first Z (with the same body shell as 280Z), and many Z enthusiasts have a soft spot for it.
Or, better yet, get Tamiya's latest 370Z kit together. Anyone can see family resemblance between the 240 and 370. (And after all these years, the 240 still looks sharp, doesn't it?)

Of course. Sleek and elegant like no other Z generation. The 370Z looks like a bull dog next to its lady.

Not totally agree with your comment! If you really thick 370Z looks like a bull dog, 350Z is even worst!
