Suspension/Strut 91 3800 V6 vin L 98K
Hello,
[91 3800 V6 Vin "L"] I am reaching near 100k miles, and I was wondering which brand of suspension/strut should I get, AC Delco or Monroe (Monroe is having a $150 rebate offer) or KYB? I understand that all I need for the front are the strut cartridges. However, the rear I am getting confused, I see "quick struts" which include more that just a strut (bearing plate, boot kit, insulator). What parts do I need to replace to do a complete strut/suspension job on my Regal? Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: Suspension/Strut 91 3800 V6 vin L 98K
If you can get them for a decent price, I'd get the KYBs. Otherwise, Monroe would be fine.
Stay away from Gabriel though (usually only sold at AutoZone). They don't last very long, and the subtle differences on them make them more difficult to install. I'm particularly referring to the tip of the strut piston that you need to hold while tightening the nut. When replacing the rear struts, get the guick mount ones (these are the rear strut + the upper mount already attached to the strut) if you can as the rear strut mounts do commonly go bad on the older W-bodies. It's usually cheaper than buying the mounts separately anyways and you don't have to go through the hassle of installing the mount. Another worthwhile fix is that is installing the plastic insulator pucks where the rear mono-leaf spring seats with the spindle. These are sold in pairs for about $25. AutoZone can order p/n SK7050 for you and they or get p/n NCP 2747050 from NAPA. The factory insulators are rubber and wear through really easily causing the ends of the fiberglass leaf spring to ride on the metal of the rear spindle. This causes a clunking sound when going over bumps and if left for too long can damage the spring. The plastic pucks are the best solution. Dorman p/n 31066 also addresses this but they work just like the factory ones and don't hold up.
