Question 1996 Mustang V6 5 speed

I have a 1996 Mustang that will not start unless u take the postive post off of the battery with the key in the on position then reconnect it. Everything inside the car comes on but the car will not start and it won't even give me the dead click. But as long as u connect then reconnect the positive its fine.. But u have to do that everytime you go to start it. I have bought a brand new battery so its not the battery being bad. What should i do?

Re: 1996 Mustang V6 5 speed

Sounds like it may be a faulty starter or starter solenoid. Next time you go to start it, tap on the starter with a hammer and see if it tries to start then before disconnecting the battery.
