Why are the wire harness for the 05 Silverado's expensive? Ebay $80. Then you have to buy the dash kit. Ebay $7. New Kenwood stereo from Fry's $79.99. Not priceless but expensive.

its a databuss system that turns on the radio.. so your factory radio is part of the vehicles computer system - and you have to keep something in there that will do the same

the harness also integrates the onstar. if you have bose use metra gmos-04 non bose use metra gmos-01.

As an fyi..
If you buy a stereo from crutchfield; they will give you a discount on the adapter that connects the aftermerket stereo to your truck.
