Engine valve tap?
Hey guys,
For the last 10K miles or so I've noticed a "tap" coming from the engine of my '08 Prix. I'm at 88K miles right now, and I have a 100K powertrain warranty from the factory. I've kept all my previous Prix's for 10 years, and gotten up into the 230K range before letting them go, and I plan to do the same with this one, so I am a little concerned about this. Does anyone know how something like this is treated my GM? It's just a noise at this point, I can't say the engine isn't running right or anything. I guess I won't know for sure until I take it to a dealer, but I wanted to get some input here, what do you think? FWIW, I've changed my oil every 7K with Mobil 1 Extended Performance (gold cap) and I have all the receipts.

Re: Engine valve tap?
88K miles with an '08?
![]() Why did you decide to use the Mobil 1 Extended Performance synthetic oil and 7K exchange interval? It should be covered under the 5 year/100K mile powertrain warranty so take it to a GM dealership and see what they say.
