how to make exhaust "cleaner sounding"?

I have a chikara header, and a 2.5 inch exhaust with hollowed out cat, no resonators to a 3A racing muffler. I dont mind it being loud, but its...just not that clean, deep sound i was looking for. i want to keep it just as loud, maybe a little quieter. my friend nick has an eclipse gs with the same style muffer as me, except his is a ractive. he has stck exhaust and just the muffler, but his sounds nice and clean and deep. how could i get this sound? different muffler? different exhaust setup? help please

Re: how to make exhaust

start by putting on cat, then a resonator or two.

Re: how to make exhaust "cleaner sounding"?

member man your putting to whole diff motors there....its like saying you put a two 2chambers on a camaro and on a mustang....everyone will vouch for the mustang sound...even though I am a big chevy fan...do like jeef said best start is resonator...makes a hell of a diff...most the ricers dont have one why you here them buzzing around when you are trying to sleep

Get a resonator and put it close to the cat as you.

Resonator in place of the cat If you want to get it a little quieter, then definantly get a cat. Also, the Magnaflow mufflers have a nice tone.

Re: how to make exhaust "cleaner sounding"?

i put on a dynomax muffler hoping to take out a rasp sound i was getting but it didnt do the job, so after that i put in a rez and it quited it down nicely, by the way i have a gutted out cat on also with all 2.5" piping. definately put on the rez, and if u want then throw on a cat also though that will decreese your hp output by 1 or 2horses I THINK.
