gtp cv problems

i have a 1998 gtp my passenger cv went bad so i replaced it then a week later the clamp and boot came off, replaced that cv and when i went to test drive made a horrible noise. i looked and roticed the boot was leaking grease and was rubbing on the frame. any suggestions why it would. havent noticed any bad motor mounts either

Re: gtp cv problems

Welcome to AF.

I combined your two posts, as the one post appeared to be an oops. I would check your motor mounts again and that you got the correct axle. If your motor and or trans mount(s) are bad, it can allow the drivetrain to move around causing the boot or shaft to pull apart. The passenger side axle is different on a GTP than a GT or SE due to the HD differential in the GTP trans. The axle is shorter, so you could have a non-GTP axle in there and it's binding due to being longer than the GTP axle.
