1998 windstar getting 1400 and 1403 codes.
I have a 98 3.8 that I jus put a new motor in. After installing the new motor, 2 weird codes and lights on dash. I am getting a 1400, 1403 and the traction control light on dash blinks. Might say the ABS lite is on also, but that was on before. What might this be? Its driving me crazy. Motor runs great, better then ever, just want to get these codes to clear. Thanks for any advice.

Re: 1998 windstar getting 1400 and 1403 codes.
Those codes are BOTH reporting a bad reading from the DPFE, the unit that measures the EGR flow.
It could be a defective DPFE, or it is reporting a actual condition. P1400 means DPFE Sensor low voltage. P1403 is not common......could mean the hoses that connect between the front exhaust manifold and the DPFE are reversed....... Verify the hoses.....which I think are different sizes.....and verify the electrical connections. These codes have nothing to do with Traction control or ABS. Verify the brake fluid level in the master cylinder.....and verify that the ABS wheel sensors are connected......and are the correct distance from the exciter wheel (looks like a gear).
