2008 Caravan

My buddy has a 2008 Caravan with the 3.8 liter engine. Recently, when ever the defrost or air conditioning was turned on, the van would start a violent shake. We thought it was a bearing or the clutch going out of the compressor. He also mentioned that the compressor would feel warmer than normal. It only happened when the compressor kicked it. Funny thing is, two days later it quit! If it was a bearing in the compressor, I would think it would make this racket all the time. I have changed a few AC clutches before and can't see how the clutch could rattle and then clear up. Anybody experience something like this?

Re: 2008 Caravan

Was the idle RPM too low with the A/C on? May have been a temp glitch in the idle up circuit - IAC valve/PCM.

Re: 2008 Caravan

Just got a call that it is doing the same thing. I ordered a new compressor from Dodge. Should do the trick. I will post the fix. Thanks.
