Just a couple of runs

So, the weather has been getting nice again, not to hot, just warm enough to get the nice cars out and running again. I've been driving a little quick around here on account of having a fully working motor again, boosting nice and strong. Last week I had the resonators cut out, so I've even been driving sans radio just to hear the exhaust. Its attracted some attention.

First run was the day I got the resonators cut out, last Saturday. Heading back to the apartment, I was moving through traffic when I caught the attention of a Cooper S. I believe it was turbo'd but not quite sure, don't really know my Minis all that well. Just know it had the Cooper S badge on the back. He got on my tail a bit, and did a couple of quick passes to let me know he was game. He was lowered, aftermarket wheels, different exhaust, and sounded sorta kinda like an intake. We got out in front of traffic, and just as we hit 60 he took off. I tossed it from sixth to fourth and rolled right into it. He had about half a car on me, and I ended his pull right then and there. By 85 I had pulled him in and at 90 I flat shifted to fifth. Opened up a nice lead on him, shut down at a buck ten with about two or three cars.

Cooper flys by WOT, so I get back on it in fifth. He has about six-seven lengths on me at this point, but I kill his walk away and slowly start pulling him back in. At 115 I'm slowly walking him back in, and I pass him doing about 130. I hold it out to 140, about a length up and let off, let the car slow back down on its own. He does the same, gives me a friendly wave and jumps off at the next exit.

Next run not so much of a run for me. Heading to my folks house, last gen Ford F150 wont get off my ass. I'm already doing 65 in a 50 and I'm in the "slow lane", so I'm thinking he can just go around me and stop being a massive bucket of douche. Finally decides to get around me, and slings in front of me cutting me off. Aw fuck that shit. Swing out next to him, and despite his best efforts, he doesn't manage to get to the light in time to run it. I pull up next to him, and its the same local flavor of fail: spiky bleach blond hair, Ed Hardy shirt, some all white hat oh so daintily perched atop his skull, blasting some sort of shit rock that all you youngins listen to these days.

He throws up some revs at me. Straight pipes on a V8, nothing else I bet. I just sorta nod with that "oh, yes, how silly of me to not be impressed" look, and give it a few revs...high enough to get the BOV to let him know I'm not just some punk ricer. Light goes green, I roll on it light in first, he stomps on it and starts spinning. Roll into second, he's right on my rear bumper, and I step on it. Spin through second, flat shift to third and spin till about 4500 on the tach, short shift to fourth at about 40. He's still on my rear bumper but as I come into boost I open up my lead on him. By seventy he's a bus or so back, and I let off. Wont get next to me at the next light.

Final race, not one of mine but happened betwixt two of my fellow Speed3 owners. Buddy of mine is a dealer for Hypertech (and I'll be one soon, wahoo), which makes him persona non grata in a club that fawns all over Cobb. Anyways, leaving the meet tonight, he lines up with a Speed3 running Cobb SRI, Corksport testpipe, GHL catback, Cobb AP, Cobb STS, Turbosmart BOV, and a motormount at about sixty. My buddy's Speed3 is simply a TiAl BOV, Mazdaspeed Intake, and the Hypertech tuner. They ran each other several times from 60ish up to 130ish and each time, my buddy's Speed3 put a car to a car and a half him. I was to slow to keep up, lol, but from the reports from the driver of the red Speed is that up to about 70 they were even then my buddy would just take off.

I, in the mean time, tried to get some slammed, exhaust and some other stuff Scooby Forester to run, but he would have nothing of it...until he hit his exit then took the hell off WOT because he was gonna show me?
