what to do to my crx si

i have an 88 crx si and i want it faster, i dont want a zc or a b16, cause everyone around here has them, i want the motor i have in it, so what do you guys suggest, i was wondering if an intake and pullies would do a good job, so tell me your ideas, oh my motor has 200-000 km on it

First thing I would do would be a total rebuild, since your car has quite a few km, a rebuild would probably give ya back a few HP, then the usual intake, header, exhaust, to start things off. How do you plan to build your motor? You want turbo, supercharger, all-motor?

im thinking turbo, but i cant afford a rebuild cause i need to drive this thing everyday, so i cant go without, and dont want to build another to put in, now ive always been a chevy guy right, my other car is a lowered s-10, so i was wondering if cams would be a good thing?im looking into intakes right now, and then i was thinking cams, and pullies, is that bad or what? and i wanna stay away from a loud exhaust, can i get headers and exhaust without the huge bomb on the back?

for the money u put into your d16a6, it will still not even be as fast as a tired ZC. who cares if everybody has one. it will still be faster than the 108hp tire smoking a6.

another option could be to find another motor in a junkyard, go with all new lower compression pistons and strong rods and whatnot, and build it peice by piece and do the job right, while still driving your car aorund, top notch parts without giving up the car, and you know there will always be some kid out there willing to pay way too much for any honda motor

ok now i've thought about getting a junk motor and building it up, and i,ve raced a zc and ive drivin a zc and i find them quite slow, it only had minor mods done to it, but mine is stock and it was faster, would rebuilding a head and getting it ported and polished do anything? or is that a waste of time?

You can make mass HP if you get the head done right, that's quite expensive though, but even a rebuilt head with a port and polish can make some decent HP.

anything thats gonna give you any real HP your looking at downtime if you wanna do it to your current motor.

If you wanna avoid Downtime, the best way to do it is with a spare motor that you build up when it's done you drop it in.

turboing a D16A6 is a pretty easy task, if you lots of HP you will need some pretty hefty internal work.

i would do

Resleeve
8:1 Pistons
Rods
GUDE head
Knife edge Crank
all new bearings and gaskets
equal length turbo manifold
Good Turbo

Good stage 2 or above Clutch
Lighten Flywheel

A setup like this should be good for 350+ hp at about 20lbs of boost

Tuning would be much easier on a DOHC though
