abs light
2006 pacifica, I can't find a scan tool for a 06 pacifica. abs light coming on.
don't want to have to replace all four. any ideas. |

You need to find out what code is stored. Once you know that you can focus on that particular part of the ABS system. Typically when the light comes on at start up and stays on it is detecting a fault immediately in its self check. More often than not it is a wheel speed sensor/wiring issue.
They can be checked with a volt meter set to a/c voltage or if there open you will see it on an ohm test. Each sensor should give close to the same reading. If the light stays out until you start to move and then comes on it It can still be a speed sensor issue but can also be mechanical. Like a broken exciter ring.

if it is a speed sensor failure. there is a tsb to replace all 4. personally I would just replace the failed part

Take the car to someone with an ABS capable scanner. You will probably need to have a mechanic or dealer do it for you. This way you will be able to easily identify which sensor is bad.
