2005 cobalt - what is an easy way to remove the plastic housing of the oil filter?
should i buy an oversize socket that might fit? looks a little bigger than an inch...used channel locks last time but there has to be a better way eh?
btw what is the amount of oil to be a added with a new oil/filter change? its the base model 2005. thanks |

The best way to remove the housing is with the 32mm shallow socket designed for the job. You can usually find them on ebay for under $10, or any auto store sells them. As for oil capacity, my 2007 2.2 litre takes 5 quarts which is probably the same for a 2005 but you should look it up in your owners manual under "capacities".

oil look in your owners manual under "capacities". it's close to 4.3L

An interesting feature of our two newer GM cars with the newer type oil filters is that the filter housing drains dry when the engine is stopped. The oil capacity will then be the same, with or without a filter change.
