1997 2.0 into a 1996 motor swap

I recently pulled a motor and tranny out of a 97 put it in a 96, changed coil pack and crankshaft pos wiring. purrs like a kitten but when you stomp the gas it acts like it wants to flood out or sounds like the rev limiter have pulled and cleaned tb checked the timing pretty much checked every sensor on the thing about to give up. HELP

You're sure the timing belt is in time.

You say you messed with the crank sensor wiring, what did you do? Did you have to change from a flat pin connector to the round pin or??

i was playing around with it today and when i control air flow on the throttle body runs perfect dont spit and sputter, when i bought this car he had a k=n filter on it is it possible he unhooked something or screwed up the mass air sensor by doing this?

there is no mass air flow sensor. i would try replacing the iac and/or the tps
iac= idle air control valve
tps= throttle postion sensor

are you guessing its getting to much fuel? can you smell fuel? mabey not enough fuel. filter, pump?

Re: 1997 2.0 into a 1996 motor swap

with it running you should deffinatly get some pressure. i would start with the fuel filter. when did you change that last? then pump. probly not regulator

Thanks for the residual guessing but i figured it out was the plug in for the tps wires inside the plug in were wore out. Until next time stay cool.
