Xspeed Designs RX-7 Dream Kit

Hey all. I haven't been here in a while because I haven't drawn anything all summer! Any ways, I've had a sudden urge to draw one of my favorite Japanese cars, the FD3S RX-7.

I've wanted to draw an aggressive bodykit for this car for the longest time and I believe I've achieved that with this beauty. Some of the body panels were borrowed from an existing kit but everything else is designed by me. I'm currently in the process of drawing the front angle now. Stay tuned!

Great viewing angle, really shows the RX-7 shape.
Proportions look spot on.

Re: Xspeed Designs RX-7 Dream Kit

Here's the front part of it. It's a kit from RE Amemiya and I'm planning to do some more work on it, but it's just a taste of it.

Thumbs up Re: Xspeed Designs RX-7 Dream Kit

Neat!
You've barely dented the paper--I'd have rub-outs everywhere!
?Are you working on an underdrawing?

Re: Xspeed Designs RX-7 Dream Kit

Nope. I actually used a reference for the front angle this time.

AWESOME, all freehand?
Thats one of the best spontaneous things ive seen in ages. Everyone else keeps coming out with the same great stuff, but this seemed to come from nowhere!

Keep us posted!

Re: Xspeed Designs RX-7 Dream Kit

I guess this was your reference:

Sorry for the bad quality it's from a tire ad from Modified Mag.

Very nice line drawing you got there, but in the front view the air outlet at the side in front of the door is missing or at least different to the rear view.

Man I love this car too. I've built a diffusor like seen on your rear view for my 1/10 RC FD3S. Such a beautiful car.

I have found out it's quite hard to draw the FD3S well and you did a very good job!

Re: Xspeed Designs RX-7 Dream Kit

^ Haha, yeah, but I modified it slightly to make it my own. I just used that picture for the rims and angle.
