2001 Air Pump full of water!

I have had the air pump replaced twice on my daughter's 2001 Lumina. Both times the shop said it was full of water. Well since I live in Louisiana where we get lots of rain I thought maybe my daughter had driven through some high water and the water entered through the intake of the air pump. When I took it back again after less than 6 months and they said it was full of water again I told them don't fix it. I went and got the car and they showed me a picture of the water that had come out of the pump. That was about a week ago. I got a new pump and was going to change it myself but when I dropped the pump out it is FULL of water again. It is not cooling system water as it has no antifreeze and it has not rained here in that time. Any ideas?

Re: 2001 Air Pump full of water!

Water intrusion is the #1 killer of A.I.R. pumps. The location in the front fender well is such a brilliant idea. There is a GM TSB on fabricating a shield to protect the new pump from this problem again.
