Firebird Engine Swap
Hi. I'm a 17 year old kid and I don't know much about cars besides I want a manual Firebird that is fast.
My plan is to buy an older F-body Firebird (93-96) manual 5-speed, w/ a lot of miles on it so I can get it cheap. Next I want to swap the standard V6 and put in a newer LS1 Corvette engine. Can anybody help me by giving me some advice on if this is a good idea or not and what I'm looking to pay overall for this type of project. P.S. My original plan was to get a LT1 Trans Am, but it is too damn hard to find a manual around here and I thought this might be a little cheaper anyways. |

I say keep saving up your money and don't rush into buying a car. Patience man, patience. If it's really necessary for you to own a car right now to get places then buy something really cheap and again keep saving your money for that Firebird.

i would have to agree with DeViL on this one. that will cost you more in the long run then buying a Firebird with a V8, or a Trans AM, which i would think is a better idea anyway. If i would have had any brains thats what i would have done when i got mine. However, in college i am going to drop a high output 350 in it. Which in your case might be a better idea then the Corvette engine
