96 Accord Overheating

I have a 96 Honda Accord that had the timing belt and waterpump replaced by a local mechanic back in August due to the Timing belt tearing up. I changed the Thermostat 1 month ago after having an occurance with the vehicle overheating. Then it still would overheat. I took it to a different mechanic who replaced the (blown) lower radiator hose. The problem is I still have excessive Coolant loss (minimal under the car). Please help. P.S. My fan does not kick on when my car is running with a high indicator on the Temp gauge on the dash, but as soon as I turn the vehicle off the fan kicks on.

Have you replaced the radiator cap? After that you may have to replace the radiator if you have replaced every thing else. You should also check for a blown head gasket if you are having large fluid loss with very little showing on the ground, look at the tailpipe when running for white steem and a sweet smell. This would indicate a possible bad head gasket. You can have a shop test the antifreeze for combustion gasses too, this would also lean towards a bad head gasket. Check your oil for water also.
