Crate motor - Where to buy in Canada?

Well, it seems that Mr Head Gasket suffered an aneurism,
There's blood in the urine which has caused Mr. Heart Muscle to spin a bearing.
Truck is sitting in the garage ward resting comfortably but not being productive. I've had less trouble with this truck in 13 years than I've had in 3 with my '05 Duramax, so I'd like to keep it around.

But, Rather than rebuilding a 13 yr old motor I thought I'd price a new stock crate engine. (Could be the same or cheaper) Found lots of great pricing in the states but Canadian dealers won't offer any warranties on those crossing the border. (?!?!?!?!)
Is the dealer network the only place in Canada to go? There seems to be lots of competitive pricing in the states, still honoured by the GM warranty.

Re: Crate motor - Where to buy in Canada?

What part of the country are you located in? My brother lives in Calgary. Two years ago he bought a 330hp 350 from a GM dealer for about the same price as at summit racing once you took the exchange into account. This dealer is known for wanting to sell GM crate engines, rather than like most that want to ensure large profit margins for something that they don't keep on the shelf. I can find out the dealers name if you like.

'68 Pontiac - To start that car is SWEET!
I had a fastback 68 Grande Parisienne about a hundred years ago. 327 2 spd hydra. That doorpost saved my life when I was broadsided by a pickup.

Anyway - I'm in N.S. so the Calgary dealer won't help me much. I went to the Cdn GM site and asked for pricing - It's redirected me to a local dealer. We'll see what comes back.
If it's going to get out of hand I may just sell the truck as is. My faith is not high on having it rebuilt locally. I seem to have the choice of Billy-Bob's honest rebuild's or Armstrong's full out race ready...

THanks for your reply.
