Re: 98 neon HLP
For codes, with engine off turn key to on (not start) then off, then on, then off, then on and wait. The CEL will flash, count the flashes (like 0ne flash a pause, two flashes and a longer pause) this is code 12. Tell us what you get ( code 55 is end of coding test).

Re: 98 neon HLP
Try a can of water out, HEET, Dry Gas, etc in the tank, condensation will give you the symptoms you describe.

Re: 98 neon HLP
I would expect the symptoms your car has if the timing was 'off'; such as if the camshaft was off one tooth from being properly lined with the crankshaft at top dead center. It isnt easy to check this, but its what I would try doing next. The camshaft position sensor only gets its info by 'learning' the correct crankshaft-to-camshaft position after you have disconnected the battery. If the cam timing was off when the battery was reconnected, the PCM would never know it - so there would be no code.

Re: 98 neon HLP
Code 51 is still an O2 issue, but can't say if it is upstream or downstream sensor. Go to Auto Zone and have then code for free and see if their scanner can isolate which sensor.

Re: 98 neon HLP
If the exhaust pipe is pinched it will definitely cause a power loss.

Re: 98 neon HLP
also unplugging egr solenoid wires dose not give me a code there is power and ground to plug dose this mean the solenoid is bad ....egr is working will move when i aply vacum will this also cause my problem but the hose on the EGR is plugged solid ... so i on plugged it ???? also how much of a kink would it take to give me my problem ..... becuse after closely looking at it today it is not that closed off .... but it is kinked some ?
its like the timeing is off but only in gear ....... is there a knock sensor on this car ..... if so where ... and would the retard the time enough to do this ? Last edited by robotman1969; 08-10-2007 at 02:37 PM. |
