Cutlass Ciera 3.3 stop running

My cutlass with a 3.3 liter is giving me some problems...

I just replaced the fuel pump, relay, and fuel fitler because the car would stop running after 5 minutes of driving and there was low pressure in the vavle.

I fixed that stuff now when i go to start the car it fires up for 1 second and tries to stay running but cuts off and pops in the intake.

What could cause this?

Welcome to AF!!

There could be a lot of things that cause the car to stall like this. You need to do a systematic check of all the systems. The fuel system looks pretty good based on what you stated although you may want to replace the fuel pressure regulator before doing anything else. It may be malfunctioning and is causing a drop in fuel pressure that causes the car to stall. Other items are the ignition module, crank position sensor, cam position sensor and etc.

Re: Cutlass Ciera 3.3 stop running

the car looks like the fuel pressure regulator was messed with before(it is a different style regulator than most of the other 3.3s at the junk yard) and the rubber hose has been replaced.

also after the car fires up and tries to run for a few seconds at the most... the fuel pressure valve has low pressure(but once primed it goes up again).

could this be a sign of a bad FPR?

when you prime it, the pressure goes up nice... when you start it, manifold vaccume opens the regulator allowing fuel to return... the stalling and popping in the manifold could be a regulator problem, since the diaphram in the regulator might be punctured, allowing for to much fuel to leave the rail and some to enter the intake manifold creating backfire. Take the hose off of the regulator and inspect it.
