COMPLETE: Customer's Smallblock Chevy S-10

Sorry for not having a WIP thread on this guys, but it was a two week rush job for Christmas (delivering it to the customer in about 10 minutes) so I didn't have time.

It was a great project, a lot of fun to do, and in many ways I love it, in other ways I hate it. This is the reason I'm doing a waiting list from now on--2 weeks is not the proper time to do a project with this level of kitbashing and custom work. The customer (a friend) has the attitude of "as long as it's green, has a smallblock and slicks on the back it's fine) but I'm a bit of a perfectionist, so it's difficult for me to "settle" for this--but, 4 days til Christmas, what can I do?

The grille I posted about in the main section a while ago, because I wanted to do a genuine looking billet grille. The suggestions were all quite good, but far too time consuming (being my first time doing it, I'm sure I would've screwed up once or twice and had to do trial and error) so I stuck with my old idea. It looks OKAY, but because it was rushed I don't feel I got the right look--having the headlight pods darn near match it doesn't help either.

The rest of the truck is pretty awesome, except the flame decals on the side. He came to me YESTERDAY to tell me what they were/show me pics and asked me to put them on--not even enough time to make the decals up properly! So I took the green flame decals out of an old Shelby GT500 kit, sliced and diced and came up with those. From a foot away or so they look the part, but up close they fail my scrutiny. Best I could do with what I had.

Body is Dupli-color Green Metallic, wheels are from an 80s Monte Carlo SS, rear slicks are from a NASCAR kit, shaved, sanded and lettered with white paint. Interior is basically stock but I added a T-handle hurst shifter and a tach. The engine is a mostly stock smallblock out of my parts bin with a TH350 trans. Wired and hosed.

Comments welcome.

As an owner of an S-10 I naturally like this. I know what you mean with customers and their last minute ideas and changes. It's very frustrating. I like this build and I think you got the spirit of drag racing spot on, especially with the numblers on the windshield. While the grill is a bit crooked I like that it's see-thru. Very nice model for the short time you got to work on it.
Now on behalf of all of us on AF, we order you to quit customer's builds for a bit, put your feet up and enjoy some eggnog (with your fav additive of course) and get the best out of the holidays. Oh, and eat tons of turkey.

Hah.... I actually am doing that; the non-Christmas builds are on hold until January!

The customer was satisfied with the truck, as well.

Nice S10, is the tailgate able to open? The grill came out good, i also still need to learn how to make them straight. Reinforcing each section might work. Slick s10.
