True AWD?

I was wondering whether my 95 GSX has true AWD aka two LSD's that will actually drive all 4 wheels independantly or if it's really 2 wheel drive thats computer controlled i.e. 4matic on mercedes' "stability control" that just applies the brakes to the slipping wheel when you get yourself into trouble.

Re: True AWD?

Well, it is a "true awd." I dont know about 2gs or even other 1g's but both of mine came stock with LSD's in the rear but the fronts are open diff. However, I have managed to make 4 wheels burn out marks with out the front LSD.

Re: True AWD?

think about when these cars were designed / made.

no chance mitsu engineers could use that computer controlled fake awd crap. that's a good thing though

Re: True AWD?

Porsche copied the design for the 959 Porsche Super AWD lol. J/K.

Here is a great write up of the Mitsubishi AWD system in the 3000GT VR-4/Stealth R/T TT. DSM have a different transaxle and rear diff IIRC but the basic design is the same.

Re: True AWD?

that was a sweet article. Thanks. What i was thinking about the year mid 90's is when car companies started to experiment with that stuff. So they might have barely had the technology then but put in an underdesigned system that worked poorly. now i know right.
