92 Ciera 3.3

Hi all. I've been looking for a first car for my soon and have looked at a lot of cars. I just drove a 92 Ciera,3.3 (don't know tranny) 150,000 mi. engine ran great, tranny shifted good and overall is in really good shape. I was wondering about the 3.3 engine and tranny. How reliable are these? Thanks for responding.

Average vehicle all the way around, 15 years and 150k brings with it all the usual risks of course.

I'm about to scrap my 91 Olds Cutlass Ciera 3.3 after 383,000Km. Engine runs great. Air conditioning leaks. Engine has never been touched and uses no oil. Tranny has had couple oil/ filter changes and may give problems soon. It's slow to engage occassionally. Moved up to 95 Cutlass Supreme with working A/C last summer.

Average is not really an acurate discription of this car. As the previous poster, I also have high mileage... 280,000 kilometers. No problems. Lots of power, very comfortable ride, nice fuel economy.
A "few" oil changes here and there are not really the way to go though for me. I am changing the oil at 4000 kms and doing a flush no question. I suppose the car ranks average because it's kind plain and uninspired. What should inspire you though is the testimony you'll recieve in this thread.

You need to know where the car came from though, and who you bought it from. The Ciera, especially with the 3300, is extreamlly reliable, but its only as good as the service it recieved. It's a fantastic car, I hope you get one thats been treated nice. You may have transmission T460-e 4 speed auto with overdrive.

Re: 92 Ciera 3.3

thanks for all the feed back guys. the guy who has it now bought it about a year ago just to drive a few miles to/from work cause his f150 drank gas. he got it from an old man whose wife had passed, it was her car-original owner. it's very clean in and out, normal wear for age.looks like well taken care of, lots of oil change stickers on the door. It is here in fla so the door glass seals are dried out and need to be replaced. any suggestions where to get these?
