93 lumina dies while in idle or at stoplights

It will quickly start back up and go until i take my foot off the gas again. I took it to the mechanics and they said that there is no codes for the problem.Has anyone had this problem that could shed some insight? starts fine runs for about ten minutes and then dies when no gas is being applied, ie..at stoplights or even when coasting. i have had the low coolant indicator light on but it has been checked and filled. 93 lumina v6 automatic sedan

Ususally an indication of overly lean idle mix...I'd check for vacuum leaks, stuck IAC or EGR, PCV, etc.

If the ECM has lost power for any reason - dead battery, bad alternator, Etc., perform the 'Idle Relearn' procedure......See the sticky on the top of the main page.

Re: 93 lumina dies while in idle or at stoplights

This is a reply I did for another similar question for a 92.
My son had a 93 Z34 that ran great till about 90kmiles. Then it would start dieing after it got warmed up. It would mostly do it as he slowed down to stop or turn a corner. We replaced almost every sensor on the motor. Finally discovered it was the “phantom stalling” problem of the Z34. The fix was a set of injectors that were different than those furnished with the car. They were hard to locate. Had to get them from a dealership. Go to 60degreev6.com and search with the word phantom. Good luck. Someone on that website said you have to enjoy working on cars to own a Z34. I believe it.
