Re: monroe quick struts
When Strutts are replaced you must do an alignment as well ... was this done ? If so, take it back. Otherwise, they may not have been put in correctly.

Re: monroe quick struts
Does sound like something may have been left loose. Seeing how it only does it when under load tells me it from the front fro sure.. To many parts could have not been tied in correctly to now the answer for sure. But I would take back to who ever installed them..

Re: monroe quick struts
thanks for the replies. the alignment was done but as the concensus, i think something was left loose. it was done at a reputable front end shop i've dealt with for some time but am being wary. hope he doesn't start pointing at the tranny....

Re: monroe quick struts
I also urge you to return to your trusted shop.
Yes.....it is possible that they left something loose....we all make mistakes......so this will give them a chance to correct it before something serious happens. Also....it is possible that some other item is worn.....and the disassembly / reassembly may have been the last straw.......something like the sway bar links (pretty hard to get them off without heating on an older car.......mine were replaced as part of the quick strut job), ball joint.....etc....etc. As they are a reputable shop.....they will want to make it right....but don't hold them responsible if it is another item that was about to go. Our old girls are pretty old now (mine is a '96....and I had the monroe quick struts put on in spring of 2007).....and we can expect to replace a few things up there now. My quick struts replaced the factory original springs/struts.....a spring was broken (outside the 10 year unlimited mileage waranty). They also replaced a factory original lower ball joint on the driver's side....and a factory original wheel bearing on the passenger side.....both were only slightly worn....but in this line.......slightly is enough to replace. This spring, I had the factory original inner and outer tie rod ends replaced. All this sounds like a lot.....and I understand the feeling of shelling out money....but not bad for the years and the mileage (now less than 30 miles from 200K miles). So.......in all honesty.....this has been the most reliable vehicle that I have owned.......Rust just came through this winter.....and it was a HARD winter here in Wisconsin.......it has been in salt every winter.
