92 Olds 98 Is there a set lowest temp for the AC in the ECC?
Hi...new to forum.....looking at a 1992 Olds 98 to purchase...one question, could not get the AC to turn on in ECC auto mode. Is there a manual override? It was only 56 degrees outside, will AC not turn on at this low a temp? Could not get auto mode to lower temp below 60 degrres..is this a set temp? HELP!!!! Love the car but need to know the facts to pacify the husband and the well meaning mechanic friend!
Many thanks in advance! |

Re: 92 Olds 98 Is there a set lowest temp for the AC in the ECC?
I've got a 91 old 98 and the AC wouldn't turn on for me either, I found out that the digital climate control system wouldn't engage the compressor untill the OUTSIDE temp was over 40-45 degrees F, problem was, the outside air temp sensor was going bad and on a 90+ day, it'd say it was only 17 degrees outside.
Replacing that sensor, the 'ambient air temp sensor', it's about 2 inches long in the center of the front grille inder a plastic cover (in front of the radiator), cost me about $30, but fixed everything. Hope that can help ya. Greg C. |
