Am I risking suspension for this?

Here's my story. I live in NY. Last July, I got a ticket for "Improper U-Turn". Went to court, had a lenient Judge, paid a reduced fine- was not notified or told if any points were put on my record. My insurance did not go up any. Last November, was stopped by a cop for speeding. He, being nice, gave me a ticket for "Speedometer Not Working Properly", which was an equipment violation, so- no points, paid a $50 fine. Earlier this week, the SAME cop radar's me going 56 in a 35mph zone. This time- NO leniency. Gave me the full ticket. He remembered me, and was quite mad. I have been driving for 13 years with an absolutely clean record until this "string" started. I understand, obviously, that I will have to pay a fine. My question is, am I risking a license suspension for this? And- seeing how mad the cop was, and since he was the same one who caught me in November, would it be better to just mail in this ticket, plead "Guilty" and accept the fine and points, rather than risk going to court and him bringing up what happened in November to the Judge? Thanks for any advice.

I don't see a suspension in your immediate future. I believe it's a 3 point violation. You're allowed 11 points in 18 months in NY. However, I'd think twice about pushing your luck. By now your car is probably "Marked" by the cop that stopped you those times, and will probably be willing to issue more.

Plead not guilty. You will most likely meet with the Assistant DA before teh actual trial. He will offer you a reduced sentence and you can accept it. Unless you are in a smaller part of NY and the cop is the one that meets with you to bargain. In that case, he will probably show no lenency...but I would think it's better to try. I suggest arguing every moving violation.

See if "defferement" is possible in your state. In washington, you are able to defer 1 ticket every 7 years with a 1 year probation sentence.

I dont think you'll get a suspension for 2 moving violations. I know in MN its 3-4 within a yr.
