oil leakage

i have a 91 escort gt 1.8li. i have notice that it leaks oil.it looked like it was coming from the valve cover all the way down to the oil pan. another give away was the smell of burning oil. anyways i replaced the valve cover gasket. however, i still smell the oil burning is there another spot around the valve cover that could possibly leak oil.because i see no oil coming from the valve cover gasket.

Re: oil leakage

You might check the oil pressure sending switch. I have no idea about where it is on your car. They get old and the diaphram will leak. Maybe it's some old oil that leaked out before you changed the valve cover gasket. Might take a while to burn off if it's on the exhaust manifold.

Re: oil leakage

Could be from the head... could be from the pan... could be from the rear main seal... If you haven't done it yet, get some Simple Green or another detergent and clean up the engine... should help to locate leaks when you can see the fresh oil.
