Progress pics of my 360

These are some pics of my 360 in progress

sorry a few images but it shows the paint !!

the last image shows just what this paint is all about - it changes in the light - you'll see I set the camera to flash so it would shine loads of intense light on it

Let me know what you think so far

Great work! Paint job is very nice, what paint is it? not too keen of its use on a ferrari though to be honest! Engine looks very smart, how did u achieve your heat staining on the exhaust?

well I wanted to be the first to use this paint, but I guess I'm too late. I've had the paint for about a month but I just did my ITR this morning, I'll make another thread and post pics. Yours looks very nice.

Love the reflection on the paint, jimbob.

Now if someone would build a R33 in this color, that'll be too cool.

Well, I’m one of those persons that if is Ferrari then must be Italian Red, but I have to admit that your pains job is really awesome.
Always liked this various tonality paint since I first saw it in the AMG Mercedes DTM, some years ago.
The interior and engine also are really clean. I’m very impressed with your work.

That looks just great...

I love that engine.. did you black-wash it? Really brings up the detail, and makes it look 'heavier' somehow.

Thanks for all your comments.
I will try to answer all your questions

i tend to agree with some of you of the use of this colour Im not sure it is suited to the ferrari, I get bored of seeing just RED. (I was going to do this red but when i went to mix the paint there are about 50-60 ferrari reds - I couldnt decide so I chose this. On the other hand I wanted something different to display - that people would comment on - like you guys have - some like some hate on a ferrari.

The colour itself is from a TVR - its very expensive - £250 to £600 pounds per litre (I only used about 20ml) Its solvent based automotive air dry paint. In my work I go to loads of differnt bodyshops (im an insurance assessor) So i have been able to accumulate loads of this paint - about 10 colours in all. The later stuff is water based.(I can send some to you UK people if you want to try it - also If you are ever stuck to get paint mixed let me know -I can get every car colour there is and can also get it in spray cans.)

Back to the model - the body was primed with plastic primer rubbed with a scothbrite pad - 2-3 coats of the TVR paint and then 2 coats of lacquer - The pictures are of the paint as it was finnished - no polishing or finishing has been done -

Engine - was primed - sprayed with gloss black the 1 light coat of aluminium the dry brushed (well almost dry - a bit wetter than dry) with Tamiya smoke (x-19)

Exhaust - was left as the box chrome - but washed with a mix of clear orange and smoke - 9 parts clear orange 1 part smoke and just brushed on - when tacky it was then brushed over with clear blue and once dry the whole exhaust was brushed in tamiya smoke. This was all done kind of slap hazard - not taking to much care to give a natural heat look. I wasnt sure if it was good or not - but i tried

Turbo86 - I have an R34 - give me a while but watch this space - the coulor i am using knocks this colour to touch - about 8 colours in it!!

Hope some of this helps
The finished model will be done in the next week or two i hope
(Jay I will then email you the three models for the gallery)

Cheers
JIM
