|
Drill bit sizes
I'm sorry, I've looked around but couldn't find anything about drill bit sizes. I want to buy some bits, since the ones I have are not small enough for 1/24 or smaller scales. could I get a rundown on sizes? I've looked for Dremel but didn't see anything small enough to do a 1/64in hole or smaller.

Squadron, X-acto and other companies make drill bits 61-80.

Not sure if there's one near you but Wood Workers Warehouse has sets of indexed micro bits. Can't remember how many come with it as my stepson raided my tools and lost half of them. . .
 Most any size you need comes in it and I think I paid under $20 for the set . . .EDIT: Ummmm never mind . . . "Woodworkers Warehouse ceased operations and filed chapter 11 bankruptcy on December 2, 2003. All assets have been liquidated." damn. . . EDIT #2: Good news, look here. . . 11 bucks!!!

...they run from .039", which is about 1" in 1/24, to .0135", which is about 1/4" in 1/24. Good luck finding anything smaller than #80- that's appearently what lasers are for.
Should cover everything you should need in 1/24- just get some dial calipers so you can measure whatever you're drilling the hole for, too.

I've been using this set for a few weeks: Pin vise w/ 30 bits . They work very well...all the way from 1/3 of 1mm to 2mm. Good luck.

one other thing, stock up on more than one of the very thin drill bits (e.g. 0,3mm-0,6mm). They snap VERY easily
 and that's not a good thing to have happen when you only have one
