2000 Cav. No dash, radio, or interior lights?!?

Hi this is a strange problem. I drive a 2000 Cav. I was driving the other day when it got dark. I put my headlights and they came on. However I did not have any interior lights. I thought the dimmer was down however I adjusted it to high and still no light?
The interior dome light works fine when I click it on with the dimmer wheel however the dash light to illuminate the guages does not. The radio works but not the button lights (just the digital display), same for the shifter letters and the climate control lights. Basically anyting you would be able to dim doesn't illuminate.
I checked the fuse and it was ok. When I pulled it out the dome light went off and the radio shut off.
I doubt that those other lights are burnt out as they are all seperate right?
If it is not the fuse or the actual lamps what could it be?
The only thing I can guess is that the dimmer control is not working. I have never heard of this problem has anyone else?
Please help soon as it is getting kind of dangerous to drive at night.
Before I take it in to the shop I wanted to ask here just in case I could fix it myself cheaply.
any help would be great..

Sounds like the dimmer switch.
