95 GP GTP 3.4 how to tell if intake manifold is no good??

I've read through here on what could be causing the poor idle when my 95 gtp 3.4 is cold, idle goes up and down runninng rough ETC.....

Anyway I've determined that its probablly bad intake manifold gaskets, I haven't torn it down yet, but was wondering what if any visual indications will it show if the Intake manifold itself is bad???

Thanks for the help

Welcome to AF!

When the maniflod gaskets go bad you will usually see coolant leaking somewhere, either to the outside of the engine, where it is easily seen or internally where it mixes with oil and the oil turns milky. On rare occasions you may see some coolant coming out the exhaust. Poor performance can be an indicator of this as well. As for your idle problem check for vacuum leaks and then clean the Idle air control motor on the side of the throttle body. Probably very dirty and causing the idle issue.

Thanks for the tip. I'll give that a try first. Just clean it out with carb cleaner? The car has 102k and was driven by two teenage girls for the last 3 yrs!!!
