why i hate my life

5. I have no driver's liscense.

6. I have no girlfirend or anybody of the opposite sex remotely interested in being in a long term relationship.

7. I live in a shit - hole of a town named St. Cloud.

8. I live in a shit-hole of a state called Minnesota.

9. 1/3 of my friends are drunks, 1/3 of them plain retards, the other 1/3 a combination of both. (I really don't have that many friends i nthe first place)

10. I'm an alcoholic - and will be one for the rest of my life.

That's the top ten. want to see the next 10? didn't think so. BTW I'm 23.

it is a hard job market out there? Have you tried the local supermarkets (safeway, kroger, supervalu)? I'd reccomend a union job, for the stability. I don't know the pay rates out there but if you get into the checkstand or overnights i'd say at least 9.00/hr. Anyone know these pay rates?

If/since you don't like it, remember YOU have to decide to make the changes happen that you want.

Good advice above, get a job first. Scratch that, work on #10 and quit drinking. Then get a job, which will get you money and a place to live. You don't have to do any of those in St Cloud, you can move anywhere in this country you want to. Maybe moving out of the environment you're in will help you get out of the bottle. You have internet access, so do some research on good places to live.

Im just amazed that with no money, job, or house that your able to sit on your ass posting this. Stop wasting time sitting on your ass and find a job.

I live in MN, i see nothing wrong with it. I've also been to st cloud to visit friends to goto college there. Is it any wonder that because your in a small COLLEGE community that there is alot of drinking. Sounds like a no brainer to me.

As long as you're positive about it man, just stay that way. So many people get stuck in the same situation as you and they just give up. I think you'll make it though, you obviously have the drive and the will to succeed, so if you just work harder on keeping your head up and keep telling yourself things will get better then slowly but surely they will. I don't know if you're religious or not, but I know God will watch out for you and I'll say a prayer for you. You can take that as you like, as I said, I don't know your personal beliefs, but a little prayer never hurt anyone.

As for anyone that would come in here to call him a little bitch--come on, this guy is part of our onlilne community and our own kind, we should be at least encouraging someone who is obviously trying to get better in his situation, not call them names.

For those of you who call names, you have a place to stay, you have food to eat, I'm assuming you have a job. Count yourself lucky, If you have food in your refrigerator, clothes on your back, a roof over your head, and a place to sleep tonight, you are richer than 75% of this world. If you have ANY money in the bank or in your wallet, you are among the top 8% of the world's wealthy.

This is weird, but it's worth mentioning -

about 5 minutes after I read your whole post - and how you'd pray for me, one of my Friends (who's parents are rich as fuck) walks into the computer lab that I'm in. (I'm on a college campus) We catch up, and I tell him my situation (I wasnt gonna lie to him) Out of generosity, he insists that I take all he has in cash ($6, but he has over a million in credit cards). ON TOP of that, he invited me to crash at his dorm when he gets in January (I'll have a place by then anyways) and on Sunday, he's getting me stoned. I'm fucking serious - this all happened. What a good friend.

I don't know what you did, J, but thanks.

You have a good point. Some people would say I'm replacing one drug with another, but I've been smoking weed a lot longer than I have been drinking. I never lost my liscense smoking weed, I never got a DWI smoking weed, I never got busted for smoking weed, and i didn't get evicted for smoking weed. IMO it should be legalized. But that's for a whole different thread. Now that I think about it, smoking weed is a dumb thing to do when I'm looking for a job. But at least i admit my mistakes.

Anyone who's been to treatment (and really knows what an alcoholic really is) knows that alcoholism is a lifelong battle. Your never fully "cured". There is no medecine for alcoholism except abstinence. An alcoholic who is sober is said to be a "recovering alcoholic" Right now I'm in a state of recovery. But the want and yearning to drink and get drunk will be there until I take my last breath.
I accept that as a part of my life.
