Tranny overfill
I filled my tranny up to the cold mark on the dipstick. Was wondering why the fluid level was down so low. Something in the back of my head said check it why it is hot(which I didn't want to do). But on the side of caution,I let the engine warm up, and ran the selector through all the gears. Checked the fluid again, and it was too high. So got my old keroscene heater pump out of the shed(which I never thought I would ever use,but works great). Before the level was down where it was suppose to be, while hot. I had pumped out 2quarts. So beware, that cold level check can be deceiving.

Re: Tranny overfill
I have noticed that when my trans is filled to the correct "hot" level, it does not even appear on the dipstick at all when cold.

Re: Tranny overfill
same with mine, in fact, when I had my transmission serviced, the guy told me I might have messed up my transmission having it as full as I did. Yeah, right, it ran like that for thousands of miles, for some reason I don't think it made a very big difference.

Re: Tranny overfill
If you look closely, you will see a small breather tube with a crimped cap on it sticking up out of the top of the trans. This will help to blow-off excess when you overfill.
