Re: AM radio reception problems--WHAT do I do-- I need my Talk radio--Please help
It's probably the antenna, I love my 00 jetta vr6 but the radio reception is typically awful. I don't know that there is a fix for it directly, aside from buying Sirius or XM radio (which seems to be what most people are doing)

Usually caused by a shorted antenna base and mast. Also can be the wires from the mast to the radio. 75%time is the mast and base combo that needs to be replaced.

Re: AM radio reception problems--WHAT do I do-- I need my Talk radio--Please help
I had the same problem for about year until I tried a cheap fix that ended up working in my case. I put some dielectric grease on the male threads of the whip antenna and on the female threads of the antenna base. The AM reception is fine now. Worth a try. Dielectric grease can be found at your local auto parts store.
