Change shift knob!!!!

This may sound dumb, but I'm changing my shift knob on a 99 accord 5 speed and when I start unscrewing the knob - the whole shaft unscrews - am I doing something wrong - how does it come OFF?

It should just unscrew. I don't know if the bottom is supposed to unscrew or not....

Re: Change shift knob!!!!

When the shift knob has never been removed before it can be somewhat stuck, but just grip the shifter boot right below the shift knob to keep it from getting twisted with the knob.

Re: Change shift knob!!!!

the shaft is not supposed to unscrew. Put vicegrips on the shaft to keep it from twisting then try and unscrew the knob.....This thread sounds so dirty...
