Battery

Ok I want to buy a new battery for my 98 Blazer. What are my options as far as going with a more powerful then stock battery? What brands? What works well for very cold weather in lots of snow and also working with lots of current going to aftermarket stereo equipment? Thanks guys!

ps the battery is going bad but I should be ok until it starts to get much colder here.

My cousin suggested the same thing. I knew someone would say it but damn it is $125! when like a diehard is $55! Ok so the new stereo I got actually has all those crazy background visuals to watch, well one of them tells you the power coming into the head unit. it stays in the low 13's. shouldn't it be 14 or a little higher? You can defenatly buy a battery with more cold cranking amps. They will not hurt anything. The blazer will only use as much amperage as it needs. As for the headunits 13V display. What type of headunit is that? It sounds neat. But is it accurate? Get a voltmeter, with the car not running, a fully charged battery is 12.6 volts, and when running the battery should read about 14.4 Volts.

My Woman almost got that Pioneer. She disappointed me when she didn't get a Pioneer like I have. Then she chose the Panasonic because it was "cooler!" She liked it because it was motorized.

But damn that sucks! I came so close to getting to play with that same head-unit. I would've had fun! But to stay on topic, I've got a Yella'top and I've had not a single problem! I'll never go to another brand!
I believe there is only a 2 year no questions asked warranty though. At least on my yella'top.

Yea there is! It is pretty cool! It seems accurate along with the gauge on my dash. Kind of funny little meter that goes left to right with right being the higher number of voltage and all the way on the right is a dancing battery with electricity flowing out of it! Pretty cool visual. This deck rocks! I so highly recomend it! It looks very clean installed in my dash too. I tried today using my two rear door speakers as subs and the deck makes it sound like to hard hitting 10's! I shit you not. It is out of control how cool this thing is. All I need now is an ipod that hooks directly into it and whichever sat company I prefer because pioneer does both!

ps haha woops fcorgot which thread I was in sorry for the kind of off topic! I am going to buy the red top when I have the money I believe. There spiral design technology seems cool. So what other options do I have besides optima for something nice in a battery? I am going to use a caddy battery no matter what I do cause they come wih 1000 cold cranking amps.

So did some research and I figure that the Red Top is more of your every day battery and the Yellow Top is more of your deep cycle discharge recharge battery. I believe the Red Top will put out more power and the Yellow top just seems to last longer with the use and recharge.

I replaced my factory battery with a Diehard Gold w/520 cca (cold crank amps).

I think I spent about $70-$80 for the Diehard. It has a 6yr warranty.

Not too bad of a price. I am pretty sure the 6 year warranty is prorated. I ma just torn between going with the expensive battery everyone talks about and getting the great waraanty or saving money now and hoping for the best ina few years it still runs great. I have a Midas Gold in there now. Was there when I bought the truck.
