t2 tranny question rant thing

i had tons of info on the tII swapping stuff but i cant find it...

i wanna help out a friend, we got a s5 that HAS a tII motor (was n/a its a gtu), but for whatever god awful reason it still has the gtu tranny.

im out of it with fc`s since ive been doin almost nothing but workin on the fd all year. the tranny should just bolt up as far as i know, is that right? well yea i kno it will bolt up, but will it fit with the driveshaft and all? (just checking i know its a dumbass question) also as u may be wonderin it has the stock rear. she was asking, if you need to replace the axles too, and basically switching out the rest of this drivetrain wat all parts do we need to find? different driveshaft as well maybe, i was wondering about that one.

and i could swear if its a gtu it should have an lsd? my fc is a 90 gtu and i have 1, but she swears she doesnt and im just curious on that haha. either way a tII rear is still better move so whatever.

for fun heres a fairly recent pic of my still unpainted 99 front, and no i still dont have the lip either haha.

Re: t2 tranny question rant thing

s5 GTU was the base model, no lsd, no 4 puck caliper up front

tranny will bolt on no problem, and the rest of the rear end should be alright too. if using a T2 tranny, im quite sure all you need is the T2 driveshaft. is she wants an lsd rear end she can get her hands on one from a gxl or completely swap the rear end assembly for the T2 axle and diff and all the stuff.

the bumper looks nice btw

thanks for the help. good to see you i havnt noticed you around too much lately. then again i havnt been on too much myself.

Re: t2 tranny question rant thing

the engine should bolt to the n/a tranny but why??????

i hope your friend is never gonna drive it hard in any way.

besides that, if you use a TII trans with it and want to keep the n/a rearend, you need to get a custom driveshaft as the TII driveshaft is much larger than the n/a.

the TII gearing is only slighly different, at least for S4 rx7s, not sure about the S5

so if you have to do the tranny, may as well get everything at once? since the rear would be the next project anyway y not...
and you would need a tII rear, a n/a lsd`d rear would still not fit the tII driveshaft. im pretty sure its gonna be all tII s5 components in the end i was just wondering.

ok so since im dragged into this project now (cmon if u guys found a hot girl, or anyone for that matter, whos a fellow 7 owner u kno u wanna help) we found a nice parts car for 500. it has everyhting its just not running. it even has a good motor, just not assembled i guess, not that we need it...but its an 87, and this is a s5 w s5 turbo engine...i think i havnt even seen the car or bothered to ask. but anything unusal about putting a complete s4 driveline, tranny to rear and all, into this? will it all go together pretty easy? i kno im not gonna try to mix s4 and s5 components, i want either an all s5 or s4 driveline so i know its gonna work right.but since all the s4 parts are readily available i wanna see how easy it will be, if theres any difference at all.

to wrap it up, s4 driveline into an s5 behind an s5 engine, is it just a drop in easy fit? im just not really sure.

Re: t2 tranny question rant thing

Solve this problem in one easy step.

SWAP IT ALL TO TII AT ONE TIME.
:P

As for the FD, get the plate frame on there and the lip. Right now it just looks a little funny :P

i agree it does look a litlte weird! but i dont use or want a front plate either, but main thing is the price. only reason i just got this when theres a lot of other stuff i need more, is after shipping i only paid $328. its urethane, same thing from rotary extreme is 600, then shipping. its the same bumper, fits perfect. couldnt pass it up. so there it is. my old bumper is chipped so bad i didint want to bother messin with it when i paint. plus i love the 99. it does look odd without the frame though it does haha. but they look better painted and with all the parts.

and thanks for the help. you guys have always been great

Re: t2 tranny question rant thing

O and if you need parts and are anywhere near Vancouver Canada just PM me. Ill take the old NA driveline parts and give you TII parts for a small fee.

I rebuild all trannies before i sell them off. (gotta insure customer satisfaction)

I had a fellow doing the NA to TII swap and i think i charged him $150 for all the driveline parts he needed in exchange for all his na stuff. So let me know, i help out fellow rotor heads whreever i can.
