98 gti vr6 suspension
I have a question about a new suspension. My car has springs which have been cut to make it lower and more aggressive looking (this was done before I bought it) and it is starting to cause problems. I now have a bad wheel bearing and a bad strut mount. I dont really have money right now to do a full cup kit upgrade, so I was wondering if I could just throw in some eibach lowering springs or something similar?

nobody knows if I can just put some aftermarket lowering springs on my car without changing the struts?

Yea, but its pointless. The struts are problably bad anyway and need to be replaced.

You should probably fix the wheel bearing first. Then save up for the best possible suspension you can afford. I recommend a set of good coilovers from H&R or Eibach. The cup kit will be good as well.

The car has a lot of bounce when going over small hills. Is that because the springs are cut, or are the struts just worn out

thats a combination of both. Springs are cut which makes them act as if they are much softer., shocks are probably worn and arent damping the ride at all. my setup is KYB AGX adjustable shocks and H&R sport springs. about $600, installed myself and the ride is firm but handling is beautiful. H&R cup kit is around $600 or so. And true coilovers are anywhere from $700-$3,000. If you drive the car everyday over some rough roads I recommend sport shocks and spring such as KYB AGX($100 each) or Koni Yellow.($125) Springs are around $150-$250. Avoid lowering more than 1.75 inches because it will actually cause the car to rub tires/ bottom out with soft damping settings.
