my son has a 1987 c20 chevy truck with a 4.3 v-6, the 4.3 had 140k miles on it and has given up the ghost, i have been told that the throttle body fuel injection will work on a 350 engine, does anyone have any words of wisdom in attempting this swap,

Re: engine swap
87,
I don't know if you ever got an answer & I know it's been a while but here goes. Fact is I don't recall the answer I got when I asked the same question at astrosafari.com. I had a '94 Safari van I wanted to do that with before it got wrecked. As I recall, it may run lean because the injectors may be too small. I don't know if the comp. may make up for it through the O2 sensor. I don't think the comp. will care about the extra 2 cyl's. I know there are a number of people at that site that have made 6-8 cyl swaps. I think one important thing is to have a same or close to same year donor motor. Other than that, things like the mounts change & maybe the fan shroud. A truck would have plenty of room. Those vans are tight. |

use your throttle body and intake sensors and everything will bolt right up and run fine,,even the o2 sensor is the same as the v8,,odd as it may sound. It will work for you.
